End of Term report
28 March 2012
What have we achieved this Term?

This term has passed very quickly with our meeting focus on Play.

We have discussed how we play at playtimes on the playground and, in the summer, on the field.

We have been given ideas of playground games to play (from the School Councillors) without equipment and we have found new variations on old style games. Traditional games like It and Stuck in the Mud are still popular with new games like Dragon’s Tail and Mushrooms being added – thank you to Jack in Year 2 and Jessica in Year 6 for explaining the rules.

We also had a clapping workshop by girls in Year 5 they showed us their repertoire of rhymes and clapping games. This was great fun and we look forward to seeing them on the playground. Thank you to Charlie, Katie, Emily, Hannah and Maia for giving up their lunchtime.

Fundraising this term has been low key as there have been many other events taking place.

We all had a huge clear out of cupboards at home and generously brought in old toys, books and games to sell at a Bring & Buy Sale.
We had so much to sell it took two break times to sell it all and we raised over £120.

School Council voted to see what we could buy with that money and we decided to buy playground equipment ready for the summer term. We also bought new footballs (one for each KS2 year group) and we are currently pricing up providing new mouse mats for the ICT suite.
The mouse mats would be used by EVERY child in School.

So have a good rest over the Easter holiday

Well done School Council

End of Term Report
01 December 2011
What have we achieved this term?

• Most recently we have raised over £35 at the Christmas fayre. Thanks go to all the councillors who helped me, especially Sam in year 3 whose sales technique impressed the Vicar so much that he said if he won the prize –Sam could have it!
The winning square on the Treasure Hunt was chosen by Matthew Wood (Square F1 of course!) and the silent auction winner of the cardboard cut out of Lewis Hamilton & Jenson Button was Adam Kayali.

• Year 6 School Councillors compered the ‘Pembury ‘s got Talent’ show in aid of Children in Need – As a school we raised over £450 - and yes we have definitely got talent!

• We researched food choices of our classmates and have worked with Eden to improve school dinners and encourage more children to have a hot lunch. After Christmas we will introduce an opportunity for each year group to choose a healthy lunch for the School. Watch this space to see what they come up with.

• We unanimously voted to pay for a flag pole as we are so proud of Miss Howard and her ‘Green Gang’ achieving Green Flag status for Pembury School. (It means we can actually fly the Green Flag ) Thanks to Sam in year 5 who gave us an interesting talk on the criteria needed to win this award.

• One of the first jobs each Class has to do in September is to create Class Golden Rules.
School Councillors asked their classmates for their ideas for School Golden Rules and we created six

They are;

1. Aim to do your best
2. Be kind, respectful and polite to everyone
3. Behave sensibly and be a good role model
4. Have a positive and happy attitude
5. Show good listening skills
6. Take good care of School property

So as you can see we have had a packed term.

Well done School Councillors – Enjoy the holiday
