Netball Report – 12.05.12

Sophie S: On Saturday 12th of May the netball A team (captained by Tillie) attended a tournament at Weald of Kent School. In all, we played four matches.

Jessica W: The first game was against St Augustines who we knew were going to be tough opposition. Although we played well, we sadly lost 9-1.

Jessica O: In the 2nd match we played against Langton Green who had a very strong team. After our last game we were determined to win this one.

Daisy: Lauren, Sophie S, Abena & Jessica O worked really well and we scored 5 goals. In the end it was 5-3 to Pembury.

Lauren: The 3rd game was against Claremont. After winning our last match we were working amazingly well as a team.

Tillie: The defence from Jessica W, Daisy and Sophie K was great, allowing no goals to be scored. The final score was 18-0 to us!

Abena: Our last game was against Horsmonden who had won all their matches so far. We knew they were a challenge but we kept going. By the end the score was 10 – 3 to them. They then went on to become the winners.

Sophie K: Overall we played superbly and came 3rd. We’d like to thank Jo and Jane for giving up their time to coach us. We had a really good time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Some children ran the race “three legged”, others ran backwards, kicked footballs, skipped or even played music or sang!

We are the Champions!
17 March 2012
Congratulations to our A and B football teams, both of whom won the Tunbridge Wells Football Tournament last Saturday. Both teams had an extremely enjoyable Saturday morning at the Hawkenbury Astro Turf. There was some very good passing and good attacking play throughout, though our defence was strong with excellent goal keeping in both teams. It is a tremendous achievement for both teams to have won the A and C group competitions. Very well done to our A team: Reece, Louis, Harvey, Nick, Luke, Stephen, Matty and Tom, and to our B Team: Jan, Harry, Thomas, Todd, Dion, Sam and Aiden. Many thanks go to Darren White and Will Mawson, who supervised and coached the teams throughout the event.

Football friendly v St James'
05 March 2012
On the 5th March 2012 Pembury played away to St James in the quarter final of the NLCA school cup. Since the last time Pembury played St James and lost 2-1 we knew it would be tough.

In the first half Pembury dominated well and were the better team. With about 7mins to go, Pembury got what they deserved - a goal! It all started when Stephen took a magnificent corner to Louis who skilled the players passed it to Tom and Tom scored! Unfortunately a couple of minutes later St James made a break through and lobbed Reece!

In the second half it was very quiet and all that happened where a few chances for both teams. St James could have scored but they didn’t as Nick did a great block! When the full time whistle came we knew we were in for a challenge as it was 1-1 at full time which meant penalties!

When we won the toss we choose to take second. St James missed there first penalty with a great save by Reece! Harvey unfortunately missed his penalty with a good save by their keeper.

Reece then saved another great penalty keeping our hopes alive and just then Stephen scored a great penalty right in the bottom corner! If Reece saved this penalty we had won - they missed! This meant we had won!

Overall we all played amazing with great football by everyone! Including great defence by Luke and Nick, great crosses by Matty and Harvey, great assist by Louis, great chances by Tom and Stephen and great saves by Reece!

Pembury Netball A Team Tournament
16 November 2011
On Wednesday 16th November, Pembury Netball A Team went to Skinners Kent Academy to play a netball tournament. The A Team players were: Anna, Sophie, Sophie, Tillie, Abena, Daisy, Jessica and Jessica. We played Cage Green, St Augustines and St James’.
In our first match against Cage Green we played very well and ended up with a score of 4 all. Sophie A and Anna were our goal attack and shooter. They did amazingly well. Anna scored the first and third goals and Sophie scored the second and fourth.
Our second match was against St Augustines. This game was particularly difficult. We found out that not all players were amazing sportsmen but we tried our best and that is all that matters.
Our final match was against St James’. We played a good match and the score was 8/6 to St James’. Anna scored an amazing amount of goals but unfortunately we just didn’t score enough to beat them.

The puppy, called Alfie, is the new team mascot - 8 weeks old!

Football match v Claremont
19 October 2011
Claremont 0 Pembury 3

Match day squad--Reece , Nick , Harvery , Solly , Tom , Matty , Louis & Stephen.

The boys knew this would be a tough test as Claremont recently won the local schools competition .They started at 100mph not giving the Claremont players any space or time on the ball and it was Harvey who opened the scoring lashing a left strike leaving the goal keeper no chance. Stephen worked hard in midfield breaking the play, trying to feed the front players. Soon after great tackle in midfield and a cross came over for Matty to turn and fire past the keeper for number two. Half time whistle goes time to get some fluids and catch our breath.

Second half started and the boys were ready for Claremont’s counter attack. They held their own with and Solly and Louis holding the midfield not giving Claremont any chances to get back in the game. Reece had little to do, but when called upon, made some great saves – his safe hands and quick kicking setting up the attacks. Nick was a terrier snapping at the ankles of their centre forward - not allowing him a chance to touch the ball. The third goal came as Solly sent over a corner and Harvey rose highest to head a bullet for number three. Tom and Matty were challenging all the lost causes not giving the Claremont boys any time to build an attack from the back.

Well Done Boys Excellent Performance.

Football Match v Southborough
11 October 2011
Pembury 7 Southborough 1

Match day Squad--Reece, Luke, Nick, Solly, Louis, Tom, Harvey & Stephen

With disappointment from the loss of their first game the boys knew they had something to prove. And prove it they did ...

Straight from the whistle the boys closed down Southborough giving them no space to build an attack. We went in at half time 4-0 totally dominating the play and could of been more but the Southbrough keeper made some very good saves.

During the second half, we again dominated the play, building play from the back trying to pass and move and we scored three more goals. Southborough scored a consolation goal at the end with a very freakish bounce.

Goal scorers Solly 2, Louis 1, Harvey 1, Tom 3
